City girl Shweta Rana shone in doubles joy as she and her Egyptian partner Ola Abou Zekry won the doubles title in ITF Women’s Tournament at Egypt.

The second seed Indo-Egyptian pair were stretched to the limit before they overcame the Varvara Kuznetsova of Russian and Katya Malikova of Ukraine 6-3, 4-6, 10-7 to win the title.

In earlier rounds, Shweta and Ola breezed past Indo-Australian pair of Disha Agarwal and Maddie Antoun 6-1, 6-1 in the opening round.

But their biggest challenge came in the quarters, where they came from a set down to beat Chile’s Cecilia Costa Melghar and Russia’s Angelina Zhuravleva 1-6, 7-6 (5),

10-5.

In the semis, they beat Russia’s Polina Malykh and Thailand’s Chatchava Sakchatchawan 6-1, 6-4.
